Sonofield Ear Trainer (SET) is a revolutionary app designed to help you intuitively play the melodies you hear and imagine. Instead of relying on traditional methods, SET focuses on helping you feel the unique character of each note within a key. By using sustained drones to create a tonal foundation, you’ll learn to recognize scale degrees based on their *feeling*, not just how they sound. The app offers a variety of ways to train:
* Degrees Mode - Identify individual notes against the drone by feeling. The heart of SET.
* Melody Mode - Identify short melodic phrases, preparing you for real music.
* Voice Mode - Sing the requested scale degree into your microphone.
* Pocket Mode - Hands-free training for when you're on the go.
* Free Play - An interactive instrument for exploration.
With its intuitive, color-coded interface, thoughtfully designed progression path, and multiple difficulty levels, SET adapts to your skill level while keeping practice engaging. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced musician, SET is your guide to unlocking true musical fluency through intuitive, feeling-based ear training.

Waited patiently for it to be ready and bought it on early bird pricing. Looks great, but doesn't feel quite ready. If you get an answer wrong it shows a red circle. Cool. Now what? Nothing I did seemed to allow me to correct my answer and move on. (Edit: you swipe, there's an indication which in dark mode is almost impossible to see. Adjusted to 4 stars) Also, if you press a degree and then slide you finger off, the sound continues forever. Needs better ux for devices running dark mode.

One of the few ear training methods I've found that really does work! Over time, the scale degrees all start to take on unique "flavors" so to speak, and I've started recognizing them in real songs now. It starts out simple enough that you can make progress even if you've never done ear training before and don't consider yourself "good" at recognizing music, up to complex enough that I'm sure I will be working through it for a long time before I've mastered it all.

I've been waiting for this app for several months. It's amazing. I bought right away because I knew it will be worth it and it will keep improving. Cheers Max! Small : I think after you failed it's not at all obvious that I need to swipe. Also it seems that if you didn't do it in time it considers it a failure, sometimes if you're distracted it means you may have wasted your time because you need to start over. Also exercise restarts if I open another app.

I've been waiting for this app for so long, and I can't say I'm disappointed. The app helps you to train scale degrees, singing pitch accuracy, and melody recognition, and does so in a gradual way. The technique Max teaches has helped me immensely in the past, and I'm eager to see how far it is yet to take me. The only problem I've seen is that there are 'glitch-effects' on screen from time to time, which are sort of cool but likely unintentional. Would love to see some more stuff with chords.

This is such an intuitive and pleasant approach to ear training. The droning note makes it an almost meditative experience. Very clean interface as well. The pro version isn't cheap but it's probably well worth it and I'll consider upgrading once I get consistent results at the early levels. Highly recommend! Only suggestion I have is maybe allow the to select the octave range of melody notes being played. My ears do not like the high, piercing notes lol

By far the best, most simple to use ear trainer on the market. It's incredibly well executed, and you can tell a great deal of thought and consideration went into it's design. I'm so glad to see a well designed interface and a high level of polish. It just feels nice to use. You can use the app free, but I chose to pay for the upgraded version, mostly because I was so pleased with the basic app. I especially love the hands-free mode. It's perfect for my daily commute. 5/5.

Finally!! Sonofield is all I hoped it would be, and more! Simple, elegant, effective. If you want to familiarize yourself with scale degrees, train your ear even while away from your instrument, and become a better musician, this is hands down THE best tool available on the store. Kudos to Max and the whole development team. Thank you!

Great job on the App! Small bug which i noticed: once you get a call or minimise the app in any way, the current exercise resets. Feature request for the future would be the same but with chords and their degrees
