The free multi-award winning Brush DJ app is suitable for use by all ages and features in the new NHS Apps Library. This toothbrush timer app plays 2 minutes of music from your devices, cloud or streaming service - to make toothbrushing for an effective length of time less boring!

Brush DJ has been developed by a dentist for anyone wanting to reduce their risk of gum disease and tooth decay. The app helps keep your smile healthy and breath fresh. Also, by using this app you will find new songs and rediscover your music collection- from guilty pleasures to holiday anthems!

Brush DJ works with either a manual or electric toothbrush and allows you to set reminders to:
•Change your toothbrush/brush head every 3 months
•Brush at least twice a day
•Floss/clean interdentally every day
•Use a mouthrinse at a different time to toothpaste
•When next to visit dentist, hygienist, orthodontist or dental therapist

You can choose the colour of the screen and timer to match your toothbrush, bathroom or just pick your favourite colour combinations. There are short animated videos showing how to carry basic oral hygiene tasks such as flossing, using and interdental brush and a manual toothbrush. The latest evidence-based age specific information is given from the Public Health England toolkit ‘Delivering Better Oral Health’. I absolutely love this app. Ever since I started using it, I'll it I don't have the best habits, but since I started using brush dj, now I actually look forward to making them better! I absolutely love the fact that you can use your own music or spotify now, probably my favorite part! :D However, I've recently been getting any error notice saying that the app is incompatible with my music? Any ideas? EDIT: Thanks Ben! it was working great you until today :/ I can't hear any of my spotify music

does exactly what it says and does it well, and i LOVE the ability to customize the timer layout. only complaint is that recently (within the last month or so), the app has been having some issues with using spotify playlists- i have to close out of it and reopen a couple of times before itll let me actually play the song, and sometimes i get stuck with a seemingly neverending "loading" screen.

Great! I've never been more consistent about brushing my teeth. The only suggestion is notifications should have varying levels of annoyance if you need more motivation! Like one that is more of an alarm than a reminder. It would also be nice to access another music app like pandora or YouTube music if you don't have Spotify . But otherwise, great app and great concept. I love the ragtime song :) Thank you!!

Great app for teenagers! My 13 and 15 yo will actually use it bc it's not an app for little kids, so it's wonderful!! They like the music options too. Suggestion for future: I'd really like it if I could see the days I brush on a calendar. Then even get my whole family involved, and have a healthy competition going with the kids on who brushed more that week! But I know you're actively working on it and so far so good. Keep it up!

My daughter has been using this app for a while when she out grew the more kiddy ones. We some songs from our librarie's fregal subscription. However they cancelled the subscription and we got bored with our selections, so I finally upgraded my Spotify subscription. However I can only seem to open one playlist to use? I don't get a choice. Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal? We also can't pick a specific song? I'm not as concerned about that though.

Still not working properly, it can't use my own music, which is disappointing. The music is stored on my SD card. I tried it with music stored on my phone as well. I ed about this issue months ago and no solution could be found. I was told that they would try to fix it in an update, but so far, no luck. Tried on a total of three different Samsung devices, it doesn't work on any of them.

Would love to try this app but we can't get the Spotify to work. All her music is on Spotify, and when we select to use the Playlist on Spotify, after showing the it gives a blank gray menu that says a Spotify hip is needed. We have a family plan with no ads though? It's a shame because this isn't helpful without her own music to listen to.

9 year old says "10 out of 5 stars, time flies when you are having fun". Free of "behaviorism", this app has no digital rewards like the pokemon app that we tried and hated. It is just a fun and functional app without being overbearing or controlling, which is a refreshing change. Really great for helping us not to forget to brush, use mouthwash on busy days. It can also remind you to get a new toothbrush every few months. Colors are customizable. Cheerful music too.
