Finding train tickets with the Northern app’s built-in search function is easy, simply:
• Enter your origin station and the destination you will be travelling to.
• Select the ticket type you want to find (single, return, open return, or flexi & season).
• Select the date and time you will be travelling.
• Add the number of adult / child travellers

Atrocious booking system for a horrendous train service. The app kinda works but won't let you take a screenshot of your ticket to to delay repay compensation submission. It also won't give a receipt or the option to generate one for a delay repay compensation submission. Might as well use any other train booking apps this saves neither time nor money

I like this app. On occasion it makes the difference between choosing to use the train or not. One plus is that, unlike Trainline, there are no booking fees. And, despite 'belonging' to Northern, you can buy tickets for travel in any part of the country. Finally, I like that you can select routes to show in the Live Tracker based on your recent searches in the app - that saves a lot of faff in the heat of the moment!

I signed up as a first time customer to receive the 50% off discount they d. The journey I wanted to take was listed as eligible for the discount and it was a single journey and single fare ticket (complying with all of their and conditions). Despite this, I did not receive the discount. So, I ed their customer service team but they were completely unhelpful and repeated the same thing. Don't bother ing this app!

I haven't been able to buy a ticket on this app for months. I can't see any indication that Northern have recognised there is an issue and other s are reporting the exact same problems. Tried to submit a ticket and I instead get redirected to try buying through the website. The reason I use the app is to have an easy way to access my tickets.

Boarded my usual train from grimsby to brigg, trainline and northern apps were both saying tickets 'sold out' so it wasn't letting me buy them online, when the train only had around 20 people on, I then asked the guy who was operating tickets before getting on what to do and he said its fine you can buy one on the train. I have a railcard but he told me I can't use it to buy a ticket on the train. I then had to pay £10.80 for a 20 min journey instead of £3.85 as a 17 year old on 6.40 per hour.

I wouldn't mind this app if if wasn't for the fact it keeps logging me out by itself, meaning that I can't always buy/access tickets in a hurry as I have to keep g in again and restoring my Live Journey settings

Season ticket likes to disappear randomly even though its no where near expiry. Luckily, it hasn't cost me a missed train yet, but with it not working for 20 minutes, I easily could have. Almost resorted to buying a single ticket and wasting £13. And yet you can't preload a ticket or screenshot it to get around this

Mostly good so far. Better than Trainline: (1) no fees for any train company, (2) no adverts, (3) quicker to load. Improvements wish list: (1) bigger text (or at least the option in settings/my ), (2) ability to track multiple trains live, like Trainline, which really helps if there are any delays, (3) option within Manage Booking to mark a ticket as Used, which is useful for Anytime Return tickets (like Trainline does) - helps when you have several "Active" tickets.
