The Breathing App (TBA) original is inspired by Resonance Frequency—the scientific term that describes what happens when our heart rate, heart rate variability, blood pressure, and brainwave function align in a coherent wave. This occurs spontaneously when we breathe at a pace of five to seven breaths per minute, resulting in calm, restful alertness and other benefits.

About Resonance Frequency

The effects of resonance the innate ability of our body, nervous system, and emotions to restore themselves. This is achieved by balancing the two complementary branches of the autonomic nervous system, which governs heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, respiration, and other automatic functions.

How is it possible for one breathing technique to do so much? The answer lies within our nervous system. By breathing at your resonance frequency, you enter into an even balance between the two branches of the autonomic nervous system:

The sympathetic branch, which moves us toward activity
The parasympathetic branch, which moves us toward rest

New Updates
Although TBA focuses on Resonance Frequency, we’ve added advanced ratios to expand your breath practice repertoire. These ratios also use our breathing sounds to guide you.

What’s in the App?

TBA includes:
2 Kids Ratios (Free)
4 Resonance Frequency Ratios (Free)
4 Focusing Breathing Ratios ()
4 Energizing Breathing Ratios ()
4 Calming Breathing Ratios ()
4 Grounding Breathing Ratios ()

Each breath group offers beginner through advanced practices to suit your breathing needs.

All breath practices can be done through both nostrils for normal breathing, or through one nostril at a time for alternate-nostril breathing, giving you flexibility in your practice.

Our breath sound feature, along with the expanded section on ratios, is a great teaching tool. Many of the included ratios were created with yoga and breath teachers in mind for use in classes.

this is a great app. it is simple to use & basically foolproof, So you will find yourself using it a lot. this is not another useless app that will chew up space and memory on your phone. I have had it on my phone for several years, but recently it received an upgrade. The upgrade is even better than the original, and has several other features available through a subscription. You will not regret ing this.

I've been using the app since September 2019 and it worked perfectly fine at first. In the last few months, a few minutes after I start the exercise the sound changes and there are two inhale/exhale sound playing but they are not synced together and I can't tell when to inhale and exhale. It's really bothersome. Also when I try to pause the exercise it doesn't work. Is there a fix that can be done? Edit: it worked! Changed my rating from 3 to 5 because this is the best app of its kind!

I've been using the app for many years and I love it. Sadly, the new update had some negative effects. The maximum volume is lower than before (and much lower in comparison with the insight timer app for example which I use in combination) and the sound stops when you switch off your screen. I hope there's fixes for these issues...?

I have had this app for years. I love the visual and audible help with my meditation. Having ADD it is hard for me to stay focused, having the ball and sound help me stay in rhythm and I have successfully increased my time over the years. I am very pleased with this app and it's simplicity!

I use the audio version everyday. The recent update has improved it subtly but effectively (it's easier to follow). Thanks for all the work!

Update ruined the app, now entirely useless, sound does not keep time with timer. 4-6 time is way off

love the recent improvements, but I wish I could still hear the sound with my screen off (to conserve battery)

I found this app through Schuyler Grants 21 day yoga challenges. I totally love the app, simple, easy to use, ad free and doesn't overwhelm with options to choose from. Totally the biggest fan! One thing I've noticed, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy A70 and the set up guide didn't work for me - when I clicked on it nothing happened. the link to the quick start video didn't work for me either - youtube said video not found. Regardless, the app is simple enough to figure it out!
