The app is good and has mediocre functionality especially since now it allows buying Metra tickets with money from the Ventra , but the accuracy of train and bus schedules are only about 75% correct. Sometimes it shows a bus or train coming in a few minutes, and the time decreases as if the vehicle is approaching, then it shows it as Due, but nothing shows up, then it jumps up to the next approaching vehicle. Chicagoans already have a name for this, CTA ghosting, and it is a real problem

Half of the time I try to pay randomly doesn't work. it says I have no funds when I do. It's embarrassing when the bus driver and people are just trying to get going. There's 2 cards I can't remove one of them, tried changing defaults, etc, nothing working. There were times I couldn't load money. CTA is really losing out on money with this app. Pay your developers and/or hire competent ones. You will get return on investment.

Zero stars! App takes at least 30 seconds to load every screen if not longer. Not friendly. You're never clear which ticket you're getting. I wanted to buy the day and couldnt figure it out and had to have a local show me. The CTA website makes it very clear and then you get this mess of an app. Never was able to get the card to my google wallet so ended up just getting a physical ticket from the machine. Called to get a refund and their policy is NO refunds under any circumstances.

Edit: it's been months now, and the "favorites" section still fails to show any times Do you need something convenient to buy transit fare with? This is a pretty good option. I prefer it to using Google pay or the actual website. Do you need something to check bus/ train routes and statuses? There are so many better apps. Like, actually don't get this one unless it's for the first option. It's slow, it's glitchy, and the bus/train information can be inaccurate more times than not.

Great app. Has helped me save so much time traveling between Crystal Lake, IL and Chicago. But I had to take a star off because when I'm traveling I like to turn off any unneeded settings, to save power, like locations. But I've learned that Ventra ALMOST requires you to have locations on. If locations aren't on, the app will continue to prompt you to enable locations. Each prompt is around 2 seconds apart. This is very annoying.

The amount of hoops you need to jump through just to reset your only to have the reset refuse to function no matter HOW MANY S YOU TRY is asinine. This kind of app should be designed around efficiency above all else. Absolute waste of time and energy and I still had to find an ATM to pay my fare in cash after all the hassle failed to have any payoff. Useless.

Bus and train times are basically always accurate if you only pay attention to the ones that have the tracking (🛜) symbol, times that lack that symbol are just scheduled runs which are rarely accurate. Confusing for new s though. When you 'favorite' a stop, it appears on your home menu, but if the route changes even temporarily, the 'favorite' says "no information available" and you can't remove it from your favorites. These build up fast and drown out the stops you actually need to check.

App crashes constantly but there's is no alternative so, I still use it. Close to a year now, still a piece of***., it just recently changed my s to unidentified . Could not back to app until I did a reset. No other apps were running, just ventra. Seriously prices spike every year yet the service and technology degrades. Great management skills, well see how long you last in the business world. Your a monopoly now but we'll see how long that lasts.
