Reading some of the reviews here I agree with the one and five star reviews. I do get lots of calls for the room I d, however, that only lasts for 3 days or so then the calls drop off to near zero. So to get interest again, after one week you have to pay again, even though you have paid for a 4 week listing. Pressing the renew button sends it up the results search list. This is true, but it's not as effective as your initial listing. For now, it's still the best out there.

I've used Spare rooms several time to find lodgers. It's worked well for me in the past, however, this time, i have had to pay extra to get boosted to the top otherwise only a few see your ad. Bit of a con really. I like transparency. This charge isn't transparent. Disappointed.

Web app and mobile app don't show the same room ads. I bought one week of early bird access and I used my phone for the majority of the time when I used the app for searching for a room. I started using web app and I realized that some of the ads were only visible on the web app but not on mobile app. Not sure how many ads were hidden during this time..

Do not use this app.....it requires you to pay them a subscription fee to the relevant ads. The cost starts from £12.99 and you'll potentially only one or 2 ads before you no longer need the app its isn't worth it in my opinion...total waste of time

I've used Spareroom exclusively for finding flatmates for over 8 years. The price has gone up, but it still worked. Until now. This recent listing I had a big zero people visit to view the flat and had to move to Open Rent, where I found someone within a week. Won't be using Spareroom again.

One of the best apps for finding somewhere to live/housemates to buddy up with looking for a flat share in London - verified status is helpful and you can easily share numbers and book viewings. Bulk reply is a great feature to save time. To improve there should be an option to tick family friendly / families allowed when searching for properties for both landlords and tenants as some landlords stipulate no children and would save time for families searching.

When you search for rooms and properties, you find quite good ones. When you scroll for a while and message a property posting, after the message sent you have to go back. Instead of going back to the search you were on, you are back to the home page. Quite annoying from a ux/ui perspective and time consuming.

App Tries to make money from you by holding back potential clients for the first week or so. Not a bad app, had some people interested in the room after the "probation" period and people could actually me.
