This weather app is not d with NOAA or the National Weather Service. Products provided by NOAA are in the public domain, and this app's use of those products is compliant with NOAA/NWS of use.

This app provides forecasts, animated radar, hourly forecast, and current conditions, all in an intuitive and easy to use interface. Just the information you need, provided accurately, quickly, and for your exact location.

★ "A no-nonsense approach to show weather data on your phone, but done well and great looking" - Android Central

This app uses NOAA point forecasts from your GPS location to get the most localized weather available. Point forecasts are great for climbing, hiking, skiing, or any outdoor activity where weather from a nearby city isn't accurate enough.

GPS on the phone will provide the most accurate location, but usually isn't needed. Nearby cell towers and Wi-Fi networks can also provide this information, and will be checked first to save time and battery. You can also enter a location manually.

To provided highly localized forecasting, this app uses point forecasts from the National Weather Service (NOAA/NWS), and is therefore only available in the US.

If there is severe weather this will display at the top of the forecast. This app currently does NOT severe weather alerts or notifications. NOAA is providing this service directly through cell carriers. You can read more about the service at https://www.weather.gov/wrn/wea.

There are also several differently sized widgets available which can be placed on your homescreen to provide some basic weather information, without the need to open the app.

Forecast discussion is available through the menu button.

Permission: Location
This app requires your location to provide you with the most accurate weather. This is fundamental to how the app works. You can still add manual locations as well if you prefer.

Permission: Photos/Media/Files
This permission is required by Google Maps so that it can cache map tiles for faster loading. It sounds like the app is doing something with your photos or media, but it is not. The permission means that the app has permission to access your files (which includes photos and media), but does not mean they are actually being accessed. It is a subtle but important distinction. me if you have further questions about this.

These are the non-simplified permissions as listed in the Android manifest:
android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" (location access listed above)
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE" (check for network connection)
android.permission.INTERNET" ( weather)
android.permission.VIBRATE" (for zoom on old radar)
android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" (this is Photos/Media/Files listed above)
com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES" (required by google maps)

Free' s so good I almost didn't upgrade. But I'm glad I did. Best, cleanest weather information out there. edited (added) After years of using this great app, I still love it. It is very easily configured for your preferences. The information is as accurate as is available - straight from NOAA. Radar maps are included. Daily or hourly forecasting. - your choice. Very easy to use and understand whether you're a spotter, a Mom, a commuter, a tech junkie or a kid wanting to know if it'll rain!

Had it for years and then was unable to get it as message said data not available. Evwn paid for another app and worked for a few days. Was able to get it working again after several months by getting new phone and reloading my app. Works great again. love the local radar images and forecasts.

I use this app all the time. The data is accurate almost always. It is my main go to for weather. I use this app mostly when driving a snow plow at the Denver International Airport. I like the prediction for inches in moisture. It isn't as accurate, but you can trust you will get something as far as rain or snow most of the time.

My favorite weather app, but since a recent update, it constantly spams me with notifications of advisories and warnings about weather conditions that are far away and aren't moving toward my area. That's more appropriate for a prayers request app. The only way to stop them is to turn off all notifications — an extreme solution, as I do want warnings that affect my area.

I that I can choose multiple cities for travel and for where my family live. You can see the weather maps zooming in where needed. The weather description data is great and then I usually check with my weather station which seem to take forever to put up and the predictions are nearly the same. So the NOAA app is much quicker to access, accurate and easy to use

I have used this app for years. I finally added the pro app for a vacation with multiple locations over several weeks. I love it with only one small gripe. When I look at the technical weather reports, some of the abreviations I don't understand. That is not the fault of the app. Even the newspapers have degraded to less information than the app provides.

It used to be a five but right now the detailed forecasts are html gibberish on this version of the app on this Samsung device. I have a different version on my old device and it's working fine still. Please fix this, I have used this app for YEARS and I've never had this problem before. And please make access to the forecast on the main screen the default, rather than making me go looking for it in settings every time I have to change phones.

It's fast & reliable. The only weather app that does not clutter the screen with ads and have a cluttered presentation. With this app you simply touch the app and your local current weather appears without having to scroll or follow more links. The pro version cost $5 lifetime when I upgraded many years ago. THANK YOU NOAA unofficial weather app! 😊
