I've only used it for simple volume tests. Works great for that & compares the decibel level to things like a quiet library, conversation, etc. I only allow mic/recording "this one time" so there's no chance it will listen at other times than when I'm specifically using it to test decibel levels. I've not done a thorough check as to whether it ever starts up on its own. Seems like it doesn't, which I prefer. Will update if I find out differently. I prefer simple apps with my control. TY

I really appreciate the accuracy and options within this sound meter app. I'm a musician and aware there's a certain dB level (<80dB) of sound that is tolerable without damaging your ears. Then there's a 'hidden' tolerable point but it CAN damage your ears (>85-95dB) in a few hours. And of course there a painful level. This app runs within 1-2dB of the sound meter in our sound booth.

Not sure about the accuracy. I don't have anything to validate it against, but a leaf blower was working about 8 feet away from me outside my plate glass window. App showed the noise was 35ish db, somewhere between a library and a quiet office. Needless to say, it wasn't.

Mate the only reason I didn't give this app 5⭐ is because I've only just ed it. I have to say though it deserves a 5⭐ renting as it is the most accurate db meter to date I've come across. It's accuracy is awesome, plain and simple to use, has basically got all functions that you need. I have to say if you're looking for an accurate db reading this is the app you want to for sure, but don't just take chalki's word, it give it a go! I can guarantee you will thank yoursel.

Basic but works. There are helpful comparisons to what the decibel level is like, and has a basic calibration system where you increase or decrease the overall decibels. Needs a calibrated SPL meter if you want the calibration to be accurate.

This is a fantastic app. It records the sound for later viewing. Our land lord is def so how do I tell him my a/c is failing. I can't say hey listen to this thing the motor is failing. He can't listen. He will just write cold a/c all good. This meter was able to tell a deff person that the a/c motor was failing. . Cool app

I was able to use it for more than 5 seconds without a full screen timed ad popping up and it works even better than the last one I tried that was literally unusable due to ads. A+, great app, don't add excessive ads though. Last one was immediately uninstalled. Took longer to than the length of time it was on my phone
