I initially disliked and 1 starred this game but my friends convinced me to give it another chance and on the second I found I enjoyed it much more. It's not as lavish and pretty as Terra Mystica but it is in depth and intriguing. If you have played Terra Mystica I recommend just playing the game and reading the opening tips vs. playing the tutorial as that does actually complicate it. Make sure you understand it before buying and play Terra Mystica first if you can.

Gaia Project is one of my favorite board games. Not too heavy to learn but almost endless replay value. The UI is very well done. Font is a little small on mobile, but fortunately you can zoom in the map or look at parts of the board individually. The colors don't always match the faction though, and some are close in appearance and hard to differentiate. The icons of the planet types on the left of the screen definitely need to be bigger. Would be nice to have light mode.

Takes some getting used to with all of the information on screen, but this has been a good implementation of a complex game. I really appreciate the addition of the planning mode, where you can brainstorm your next move and save it for optionally using it later. It's a little slow to load and sync games, and it generally requires manually refreshing, but it's not a big deal. The game is somewhat intensive, leading to heating up and battery drain in long sessions, but it's better with HD off.

Great app!!! I played the board game for the first time and got hooked, so I bought the app to keep playing! The app is an excellent rendition of the board game. I haven't encountered any bugs so far (Android OS) and the graphics are top-notch. My only complaint is the colors.... It can be hard to tell the difference between white and grey, and orange and brown on the board during play. It would be really helpful to adjust the colors ever so slightly. Great app! Definitely recommend!!

Edit (original review below stars): This is an amazing adaptation of Gaia Project. The team fixed some initial issues and it now plays perfectly with no issues, every time. Worth the money! *** Original review: Pretty good implementation overall, similar to the Terra Mystica app. However, this is crashing repeatedly in round 6 against 2 hard AI. It's frustrating to play for several hours and then not be able to finish the final round. Hopefully this issue will get resolved!

Overall the implementation is very good, but in multiplayer games it seems that notifications don't always get through (or possibly getting lost among other notifications and then somehow expiring?) resulting in slow games and players being kicked without even knowing it was their turn. It would be great if reminder notifications could be sent after specified times to help mitigate this issue.

Great UI, with just a bit of a learning curve. As an owner of the physical board game, this is a great rendition. The AI is challenging enough to have an enjoyable experience. Sometimes the app will freeze while loading during play (reloading a turn), or sometimes it'll freeze while loading and trying to resume a game.

Excellent Game and Implementation. The tutorial is great; I managed to learn the game entirely in-app. My only quibble relates to online gaming notifications. You commonly need to quit and reload the app to see if it's your turn in an online match. Everything else works great for me.
