Huge fan ever since i discovered it. Used it on my old phone a lot and kinda forgot about it for a while. Glad i rediscovered it, and to see it is still well maintained ^⌣^ An absolute dream come true would be a way to set it as default media player? Like so that other apps can discover it, for example when trying to share an mp4 file or something like that? And just a way for all video files to open in this one without the system prompt asking you for which app to use. Maybe as a paid feature?

This is the best video player any TV can have! The interface is amazing, and it truly enhances the TV experience. However, two areas need improvement. First, the audio boost option is glitchy—it works initially but lowers the volume after some time. Second, the IMDB ratings displayed aren't updated, which would be great for staying current. Despite these, it's an excellent app. Kudos to the team for creating such a fantastic platform!

The interface has very little customization. For some reason you cant remove the sidebar once the phone is turned to its side. You cant remove movie names to only keep the posters etc. You cant have a minimalist aesthetic for example. Which is such a shame because the movie posters could make such a cool, clean aesthetic and that info you get once you click on it is such a nice touch. It has a lot of potential, I pray for an update. 🙏

I have a 49" Android smart TV on which I had VLC Media Player installed. I used to watch movies stored on extern. HDD in MKV, MP4 formats using VLC. It used to freeze often. Audio would go on but video would freeze. Then I was looking for a REPLACEMENT of VLC and I gambled on NOVA PLAYER and I must say it has been a bliss, a sheer win. It's better than VLC and doesn't freeze. Plus the UI is almost same but better. Automatically adding of INFO & Thumbnails is brilliant. Makes movie watching GR8.

Love this app, but the broken audio boost is beyond annoying. It's been a bug for at least a year. How hard is it to just give us a slider and allow us to manually set audio boost level? The automatic boost gradually fades until it's doing nothing. I'd pay for a working version. Just sayin...

I thank vlc's many problems for making me look for an alternative and finding this outstanding app. It's clean, functional and very beautiful. Not perfect, playback is a little bit choppy sometimes, but I'm sure cache can be increased somewhere in the settings

Getting worse, Forced subs for non English speaking parts don't show up no matter the setting used in subtitles but they show fine in VLC. Movie collections shows nothing, yet I have movie set information from tiny media manager present, rescrape does nothing. Audio is very quiet, using audio boost makes it louder for a few seconds then goes quiet again. Audio out of sync on many files and stutter on videos is also common. Stick to VLC or Kodi would be my advice. Sad to see these issues still!

Can't play MKV files which is a commonly used format. My cloud storage pCloud plays MKV files and all other audio and video file format without problems including for subtitles. Network and cloud storage is great if it can play common video file formats. But no for MKV is definitely a deal breaker not to purchase this app.
