DRIVE Electric for Tesla is a smartwatch app for Wear OS that combines NFC, Bluetooth and internet* access to communicate with the vehicle. This turns your watch into a fast and reliable key without having to carry the phone around.* ANNOUNCEMENT
Tesla's recent announcement that they will charge developers for access to the Fleet API starting in February 2025 will result in the discontinuation of remote access. The basic app will now only work with NFC or Bluetooth access near the vehicle. A new subscription plan will provide remote access to the Fleet API and will be required for older Tesla models without BLE hardware. Please be aware of this before purchasing the app. Subscription revenue will be used to cover developer costs to Tesla and does not contribute to the app's revenue. The change will take effect without further notice. If in doubt, please read the disclaimer that states that you were and are willing to take the risk set forth in the disclaimer. Please, use the mobile app if you want to subscribe.

- The Bluetooth key needs location access to search for the vehicle\'s BLE signal even when the app is not in use, such as from a tile. Please allow "all-the-time" permission if you want the vehicle to connect from the tiles.
#1. Only models with built-in NFC & Bluetooth LE: (Model 3/Y & 2021 S/X onward).
#2. Example: Use the OnApproach tile and choose the trunk command. Tap ok to confirm. Within 10 minutes, as soon as you approach your vehicle, the trunk will open. Also see #1.
#3. In demo mode the vehicle is stationary and located in Oslo, Norway. Demo mode is for showcasing features and will not interact with a real vehicle.

The car manufacturer can at any point render this app useless by alter, stopping access to, or by any other means restrict access to the APIs used by this app. No refund will be given. Keep your official phone app available at all times.
No credentials are stored in this app or otherwise shared with any 3rd party or the developer. Tokens from the phone app are stored locally in the encrypted key manager provided by the watch OS. If you choose to save your for the Remote Start feature, you do so at your own risk.
It is strongly advisable to protect your app or watch with PIN-code access in case your watch gets stolen, as this app otherwise will give access to vital vehicle operations.

Overall, I am happy with the app. I like the features and the ease of use from my Galaxy6 watch. My only issue is that I did not know that it does not work from your watch if your phone is not near your watch, even though my watch has NFC on, wifi on, and Bluetooth on. That is the reason for 4 stars and not 5 stars. In my opinion, it is still worth it for the one time purchase price. Had it been a subscription, I would most likely cancel it. 5 stars update. It worked. Just use the FAQ to set up

Not the best Tesla key/app option for wear os in my experience. Buggy and slow on 1st gen Pixel Watch LTE, app tile functions either don't work or take a long time to activate, app constantly needs to renew the key with the car and has dubious connectivity while away from the car. Don't trust using it without my phone.

Originally only gave this 1 star because it wouldn't connect to my car. Runar emailed me and gave some suggestions to get it working. I ended up uninstalling it from both devices, removing the permissions and letting the token expire. I reinstalled the next day and everything seems to be working now so I updated this review rating. A little more difficult setup than i would have hoped for so I couldn't give it 5 stars but it all seems to be working now. Thanks for the .

This app is both a game-changer and a lifesaver. I can control my Tesla with my Pixel watch via wifi, Bluetooth and more importantly by NFC (tapping it against the door frame). I don't normally carry my key card, so this comes in especially handy if my phone dies or if I want to leave my phone in the car before a run. Most importantly, the I got from Runar was great - he got me up and running in no time.

Outstanding application to control my new Model Y from my watch! It is super useful to have my watch serve as a backup key in the event I do not have my phone on me (or my phone is not working). The NFC key option uses less watch battery than the Bluetooth key option. It would be GREAT if you could lock and unlock the car from the main screen. Currently I can only unlock from the main screen although I can lock from controls screen (but that is extra tapping).

Very well done app, feature rich, and does a great job working around limitations of Tesla's API. My only complaint is that it puts an icon at the bottom of the screen on my watch face. There appears to be no way to reposition the icon or (ideally) remove it entirely. I would guess that icon is there for a reason because everything else is so well thought out here - but I'd prefer to get rid of it, or at least move it to a less obtrusive position on my watch face.

So far a 5 star app, works perfectly with Pixel Watch 2. It's a little slow on commands sometimes but I don't think that's the apps fault it's just communicating with the car and sometimes the car has to wake first. Overall considering this app doesn't require a annoying subscription like many others do I love it. It's a one time purchase and you're all set.

If you have a Tesla and a Wear OS watch, you NEED this app. There seem to be others that may also be excellent, but this one ticks all the boxes - full featured, Bluetooth, NFC and over the air, and a full spectrum of capability. I wanted the app more in case I'm locked out, but you can do so much more. Developer is very responsive to questions and updates regularly.
