There is no company or money of sorts behind this app: it's something I did in my spare time. If you like it, consider leaving a review or at least rating it.

Also, my interests have shifted and I'm not working on this app anymore (I'm very sorry) but I update it from time to time to keep it working.

Enjoy your own 2D and 3D movies in a virtual cinema, for free (it also s panoramic 360° and 180° movies)!

Full Virtual Reality: turn your head around and watch the environment.

2 (honestly bare) 3D environments, and dozens of photographic ones to choose from.

Works with all mp4 files (and with a bit of luck other formats...), can play movies from the web and other applications.

s many 3D movie formats, like SBS, Over/Under and Red-Cyan anaglyph, but plays normal 2D movies as well.

No ads, no in-app payments or statistics gathering: 100% free for personal use!

Doesn't require buttons on the headset to work.

Make yourself at home: check the "Options" menu and configure the theater as you like!

The movie represented on the virtual screen ("Elephants Dream" (c) copyright 2006, Blender Foundation / Netherlands Media Art Institute / www.elephantsdream.org), can be freely ed in both SBS and over/under version at the URL: https://orange.blender.org/blog/elephants-dream-in-stereoscopic-3d

What's New 4d631z

Hi, and thank you for sticking with this app!

I now maintain the app only (my interests have shifted a while ago: sorry!).

In this release, I have fixed a problem with the loading of photographic environments and enabled VR Theater for new Android devices.

For practical reasons, I also increased the minimum Android version to use the app to 6.0.

Have a good VR!

Decided to test my Shinecon VR headset, and this app was the perfect test for it! Other than a random app crash when I tapped the settings button(only once did that happen between installation completion and when I send this review), the app worked flawlessly! Even better: It reads from SD cards so if you have videos lying in SD storage, use them in this app! 5 stars to a single developer who managed to get this app in a stable state!

This is hands down the most -friendly VR app I've used with my headset! It's absolutely amazing to use without any controls, making it incredibly easy to navigate. I love that I can lay flat on my back and just relax while watching movies—it's like having my own personal theater. This app is superb in every way! This is the first time I've ever rated anything on Google, and I’m doing it because I’m that impressed. Huge thanks to the developers for creating such a fantastic experience!

I love the app. The only thing missing is being able to see the video before viewing, like clip art. The reason is that lots of videos file names do not say vr on it. Also, it is a simpler way to load into your videos, like going directly to your videos folders instead of going back and forth looking for the folder.

In case anyone else runs into the same issue I did with the error message blocking the play button at the bottom of the screen after it won't play a video, in case you don't know you can swipe the message to the side to dismiss it. The message is pretty annoying shows up when it can't play a ton of videos and I wish it could be disabled entirely. It took me like 5 minutes to figure out you could swipe it away. Otherwise I really like this, it's exactly what I wanted. Thank you.

Impressive app and the most interesting app description I've ever seen (such a cool author!). The app still works flawlessly on my older phone (LG G5 on Nougat) but after switching to LG V35 on Android Pie it only works for local videos as it has lost the ability to stream from LAN (samba) shares! Now every attempt to stream a video from a network share gets the app stuck at "Checking the file format..." for several seconds and eventually fails with "This file cannot be read by the embedded audio/video decoder of the device", which is incorrect because it works perfectly if I copy that same file to the local storage on the phone. I tried resetting the Android default apps, reinstalled the app etc. but it still fails the same. Also, I tried different file managers -- and they all can stream that video from the network share if I select another video player (e.g. MX Player), it's only this app which cannot do it (even though it worked fine before on nougat and the older phone). If this little network streaming bug is fixed I'll gladly update the rating to 5 stars, because otherwise the app and the author deserve all the praise!

This app is incredible, it does 99% of what I want it to do and it does it all very well, very feature rich. To get that last 1% covered: is there a way to go to the previous/next files in a folder without using the Focus UI, such as with a connected bluetooth keyboard/controller (even just knowing what keys/keycodes to send would be great as I can just remap them with Keymapper or something)? Thanks!

This is the first and only VR Theater app that lets me watch movies from my SD card without altering screen resolution in weird ways. No more having to turn my head or look up or down to see portions of movies displayed too big onto Google Cardboard devices. The screen (non-360 movies) is right in front of face just like a real movie theater. Easy peasy. Oh. And pixel resolution is accurate too. Other apps couldn't t accurately deliver same image clarity as this app. I even got a couple webm meditation videos to play. Awesome!

Seems to worked to play fullsbs 3d movies right away. Is there a way to move the red "options" bubble? I like to zoom in a little and it covers part of the video... Maybe make it even lower? All in all though, worked better than everything else that I tried so far. * Update... Found it in the settings.
