Onkyo Controller is the official Onkyo remote control application that allows s to conveniently operate compatible Onkyo network products from their Android handset.
The intuitive, -friendly interface makes it easy to get more from your AV home entertainment experience.

Main functions that can be operated through this application.
(1) Play music in each room or every room
- Lets you play music from music streaming services such as Pandora, Spotify, DEEZER and TIDAL, your music library on your smart device, or your NAS drive on compatible products.
- You can play your music via radio, Bluetooth and USB.

(2) Remote control functions
- You can operate general control functions (play/stop, control the volume, select the input source, etc.) from your smartphone.

(3) Operation of connected product（home theater product such as AV amplifier）
- Lets you control a Blu-Ray Disc player or TV that is connected to an AV amplifier or home theater product via HDMI.

(4) Dirac Live-enabled products measure automatic sound field correction. In addition, filters can be edited.

(5) Audio/Video formats of input and output can also be checked.

*By setting the “Network Standby” menu item in the unit’s initial settings to ON, you can use this application to turn on the power of the unit.

・Why the device's location is needed? Answer: In order to set-up your wireless devices which are located around you, the access point information such as SSID is needed. There is no other purpose to use the information of the device’s location.
・When updating from ver. 2.x, customized settings are not inherited except for Dirac measurement results.

Had to completely re-set up the wireless connection to get it to connect again, but it now always connects quickly. I wish it had more abilities to control the receiver (like, for instance, going into the settings menu), but being able to quickly make volume level or center/sub level adjustments is 95% of what I need to do.

UPDATE: There's a bug with this version. After having used this app after some time with my TX-NR777, it has become useless. It keeps losing its connection to my stereo. I thought it was just with my 777, but now I have a RZ50. Out of the box it setup fine, 2 days later it's back to the same shenanigans. Now it's not connecting again, deleted app data, uninstalled and reinstalled, but still the same. Tired of it and will be deleting it. I'll just use the remote from now on.

I've got to be honest, this app is completely useless! I actually rate the app *ZERO* stars. It's ruining my experience with the TX-RZ30 I recently purchased. This app appears not to utilise the local WiFi hotspot provided by my phone thereby, I am unable to use all the features the TX-RZ30 offers. E.g. Connect the TX-RZ30 to the local WiFi provided by my phone & then, use the app which hopefully would use the same local WiFi hotspot provided by my phone?? Onkyo, you've got to do better!

The app won't open. I used this app for a few years and never had any problems. Recently, I've been having issues with connecting to the avr. I would have to manually enter the ip address, and it would work for a few days until the same issue came back. As of 11/24, the app won't open. I un-installed the app and re-installed it, and it still doesn't open. I guess all good things do come to an end. Just sad you spend $1700 for the avr and not have some stuff working.

Why all of a sudden is the app not allowing me to connect if there is no Wifi signal?? I used to be able to easily connect via VPN to a number of amplifiers at different properties. Now I have to use a Hotspot or somehow trick the app into thinking I am connected via Wifi for it to work. Please fix this! Just allow for direct IP connections, I dont know why manufactures purposefully make it difficult to directly connect to something...

Have been using the app for nearly a year and I've never experienced any of the issues that I'm reading here. The millions of times we tap on a phone, but two extra taps is a nuisance, c'mon! Being able to see the info and control many vital functions of my Onkyo AVR is very handy.

Good looking interface. Customizable images for zones and easy to use. Rock solid operation, never hangs or has issues. Easier to use than actual remote on operational functions. Remote still best for going Thu settings.

Doesn't work with Amazon music or Alexa or dtsplay says you have to an outdated app which isn't compatible with a modern android and doesn't let you something called service unlocker nearly returned my amp because of this .NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!
