App is atrocious. The mug is fine, but if the selling point of this product over a cheaper alternative is the ability to control it from your phone or have different saved temperatures, skip it. The app is so broken and the Bluetooth pairing is so poor you have to forget the mug and set it up as new everytime you want to make a temp change.

The app cannot find and pair with the mug. I reached out to via Facebook Messenger, the only option I could find. They responded 10 days later with the same troubleshooting steps from the website. The mug works great but the Android app is not functional at all. (I tried with an iPhone and was able to pair immediately in the app.)

Initially everything worked great. Even got notification of temperature on my pixel watch. Then there was the software update. All configuration was wiped out of the phone when they updated the app. I found out it didn't work when I had a full cup of coffee and it didn't recognize the Ember mug. Went through the whole process that they suggest three times before it would actually start working again. The very next morning. It's not working again. Gave up trying on Android trying iPhone now.

Never stays connected. Have to reinstall app a couple times a week, at least every day sees me deleting the cup and adding it again. When it works it's great, but this is nothing more than a very expensive novelty and not worth the extremely frustrating hassle. But hey, all their recipes are available in the app if that's what you want out of an app.

This is the third time I've tried Ember mug. Actually the first one worked pretty well from a software standpoint but the charging saucer connector was bad. Next, bought one at Costco in 2022. Software mess and refused to connect so returned it. Now I saw it again at Costco. I figured they finally fixed the connection problem after all this time, right? Wrong. This thing is a software nightmare. Can't find my mug 6 inches away. Software is a mess. This is with Android Pixel 8 and updated app.

I was worried when the first iteration was such a failure, but now it works great, and you put battery life on the temp screen! Thank you!! The mug was always awesome.

It's a marvel how updates are pushed and so consistently break everything. Does nobody test their work? I was nervous when the new app interface was released. That actually was fine. It was the update that tanked it all. I've changed my review several times over the years. I think I'm going to just leave it at 2 stars for the foreseeable future.

Edit: back down to 1 star for this app as it's currently useless and there's very little point installing. It's requires an , which it has just forgotten and kicked me out. Now I cannot get back in using their verification system. Even when it was logged in (why is this even a thing?!), it would never notify on reaching temperature or even connect to the mug itself after the initial setup (which I had to do a hard reset for). Just start with something basic/functional and build on that!!
