I've used this app almost from its inception, & it just keeps getting better. Responsive dev & I find the UI intuitive, fast, & easy to use, way better than the competitors. And I've tried about all of them since I spend the majority of my time in remote areas, often without reliable cell service. Don't go out without it.

Great app! I happily paid $10 for the Pro version. I've taken 6-7 hour canoe trips and recorded my track the entire way, sampling every minute. No battery issues. C'mon Crittermaps, get a real outdoorsperson to completely overhaul the waypoint icons. There are way too many icons for urban places like "butcher" and "theater", and the icons for REAL usable outdoor places are poorly done. And you should add a Google Drive backup feature for people who don't use DropBox.

This app is awesome! I use this on my phone and I have a handheld garmin GPS, using them side by side, obviously I much prefer the screen size, brightness and responsiveness of my phone. Be sure to your map ahead of time. While youre on the trail turn off mobile data, bluetooth, etc. Leave location services enabled. I also use the battery saver mode and can get my phone to go a few days without a charge. I always carry a backup battery just incase.

Wow, after reading other reviews it almost seems redundant to point out that recent updates to the app or Android have left this app completely dysfunctional and worthless. I have been unable to any new maps, tracking for me has been mostly reliable, but I am unable to and share the logs of the trouble. All of this after years and years of flawless reliability. What the hell happened?

The app worked for about a year. Recently the app randomly deleted all of my waypoints. I talked to customer service about it and they said it wasn't a "known bug" and they left it at that and started ignoring me. The app then proceeded to completely die on me and make my phone almost unusable until I ran it in safe mode just to delete this app. I recently tried a reinstall and it's just as broken. When using an SD card the app is impossible to get to load both your saved maps and waypoints all from the same area. Recovering files for the app is NOT friendly. The overall layout of the app is beyond cluttered and a lot of options could be minimized. I wish I could get a refund for their now defective app but as I said, their customer service started ignoring me. Horrible customer service.

Great app! As the information from Crittermap states, the app requires some practice before taking it on a major trip. I've used it to log several trips, hiking and biking. I feared the battery usage would be excessive, but for outings of a few hours my phone's battery did not run low. I enjoyed knowing the maximum up and down speeds, time moving and not moving, and other statistics; as well as making screen shots of the tracks. Get this app to know where you are out-of-doors.

Used and loved this app for 7 years, and had recently been using it in search and rescue. Folder migration failed, and lost 7 years worth of ed maps. I can no longer access the (better IMHO) green FS topo maps as they seem to have all been replaced with newer white/ brown ones. ed , waited a week with no reply, ed again, still waiting on reply. Seems like is non existent, and a one great app is now garbage.

All these gps tools with offline maps are a bit quirky. However this one has consistently worked well for me. I paid for the accuterra maps and that has really made the difference. I really like being able to name map packages and then switching to the relevant map for my trip. Same thing goes for the trip database and waypoints. I do wish that Google maps were available. They are of little value in the Backcountry but it is easier to locate places with them.
