A set of offline tools to help with writing poems (currently only English is ed):

* a rhyming dictionary, using the Carnegie Mellon University pronunciation dictionary.
* a thesaurus, using the WordNet thesaurus.
* a dictionary, using the WordNet dictionary.
* a screen where you can enter your poem text, have it read aloud back to you by the device's text-to-speech engine, and see the word/character count.

The dictionaries are built in the app. No internet connection is required to use them.

The app is offline: your data is only stored locally on your device, unless you choose to export or share it. The Poet Assistant app doesn’t send your data to any server.

Permissions:
* Since 1.5.0, the app has the "run at startup" permission for the "Word of the day" feature. If you enable this feature in the settings, when the device reboots, the app makes sure the "word of the day" notification is still scheduled.

I Like it. 4 stars only because a few improvements would make it more useful, but all works well, and some excellently. Deve Carmen seems to be on it. The yellow cursor needs to be made blue, some basic formatting added, and maybe a couple more work pages to temp-keep drafts, since there's only one. Otherwise: Good Job, and Thanks for such a good app. December '24.

I like this app and use it quite often. However, there are a few issues that could use fixing. For example, sometimes I get nonsense words when I search for rhymes. They don't exist and sound like made-up words that only come up in the search to rhyme with the search word. It would help if those were filtered and removed. Also, the search results are limited to 500 matches, which is great most of the time but would be better if there was no limit. Other than that, it's a good app!

Been using this app for 6 years now without issue or complaint. It's very heplful for writing lyrics just as it is to quickly search up a new word while reading and get a good understanding on it. The app is well laid out having tabs for rhymes, synonyms/antonyms, and definitions for the searched word in any way the word can be used (adjective, noun, etc.) It also has a neat Word of the Day tab that can only be accessed via a drop-down menu, which I like because it keeps the "home page" clean.

This app is amazing- it gives as it s: definition(s), synonym(s)/antonym(s), and rhyming word(s). The ads aren't even too bad (granted, I mainly use PA offline, so maybe I'm just not able to look at the ads due to the lack of an Internet connection). I gave it 4/5 stars because some synonyms aren't listed, sometimes antonyms aren't listed at all, and sometimes a word doesn't show up with any results- even if it's a legitimate word. Otherwise, the app is fantastic.

I write music lyrics almost daily. I tried a couple of similar apps but this is my favorite by far. It's simple, but effective. On my device, i have 10 words on the display at once, and I can open rhymes, thesaurus or dictionary for each of them with one tap. I find that working with this app helps my brain come up with ideas, even if I don't find the exact word that I end up using. And did I mention there are NO ads? Top marks!

I really enjoy this app as it gives, when I select a word in my poem draft, right in the selection popup options for "rhymer, thesaurus, etc". Tapping one of those options then opens the appropriate Assistant mode for that word. Super-efficient way to write. Upon getting a new phone I found that I lost that feature, ed the author, and got very rapid response, and 100% resolution via a fresh app update. Five-star experience in both the app function and then . Highly recommended!

I love it! The fact that there is a notepad right at your fingertips in the app can't be overestimated. Grab that inspiration while you're at it and create something beautiful with the power of words. However, I feel like the thesaurus part could be enhanced and the dictionary part could be complete with examples of word use in a sentence. Other than that, great app!

I use this a lot in my work as a writer. While it's not the most visually-appealing writing app of its kind, it more than makes up for that in accessibility and -friendliness. I ESPECIALLY like that you can highlight a word on a a webpage or in a search, look it up in the app, save the word if you wish, etc. and return to your page without losing your spot. A must-have for anyone who wants to be a better writer or reader!
